LACES PRIDE CODE OF CONDUCT AGREEMENT

I will carry on the tradition of LACES pride and responsibility by adhering to our LACES PRIDE CODE OF CONDUCT.

CONSEQUENCES FOR VIOLATIONS OF SCHOOL RULES:
Consequences may include one or more of the following, as appropriate: • Teacher will counsel the student, reteach the expectations, and assist the student in modifying the undesirable behavior • Teacher telephone contact with parents and/or request parent conference • Teacher will seek assistance from other resources: Fellow teacher, Resource Specialist, School Psychologist, or Referral to Counselor • Student assigned after-school Detention • Referral to the Grade Level Administrator • Suspension from class, in-house, or from school • Opportunity Transfer to another school • Recommendation for expulsion from LAUSD.
 
I WILL DRESS IN A MANNER THAT WILL BRING RESPECT TO ME AND MY SCHOOL. DRESS POLICY IS POSTED.

Hats are the only head coverings allowed for outdoor sun protection.  They are not to be worn inside buildings.

Scarves, wave caps, hair rollers and clips may not be worn on campus • No drug, sexually related or negative racial/ethnic clothing designs may be worn • No showing of underwear, including boxers • No sleeveless undershirts, spaghetti straps, halter, see through or mesh tops allowed • No loose tank tops or low cut blouses • No midriff exposure at all • No extra short skirts, dresses or shorts • Clean T-shirts or P.E. shorts are loaned to violators • No wearing of sagging pants or shorts below hipline • Footwear must be worn at all times. 


 
I WILL RESPECT OTHERS AND RESOLVE DISPUTES PEACEFULLY.   I will address teachers, staff members, and my fellow students in a respectful manner.  I will not engage in any hostile action by physical, verbal, written or gesture means towards others, nor will I will bring weapons on campus.  I will not possess, furnish, or sell any firearm, knife, explosive or dangerous object.  I understand that any violent altercation will lead Suspension, and may lead to a transfer from LACES.  The possession and/or use of any weapon, etc. on campus will result in a recommendation of expulsion from the LAUSD.  I have received, understand and will fully comply with LAUSD policies concerning Sexual Harassment, Anti-Bullying, and Non-Discrimination that are provided to all students annually.  Refer to these brochures and the “Parent Student Handbook” for complete LAUSD policy statements.
 
I WILL RESPECT SCHOOL PROPERTY AND FACILITIES AND THE POSSESSIONS OF OTHERS.

I will not participate in vandalism (graffiti, tagging or destruction) or theft of school or personal property. I understand graffiti or tagging on school property may lead to my arrest and transfer from LACESParents are responsible for repair or replacement costsNO PERMANENT MARKERS ARE ALLOWED ON CAMPUS

 
I WILL USE ELECTRONIC DEVICES AND COMPUTERS RESPONSIBLY. ***NEW LAUSD CELL PHONE POLICY***

I will use a cell phone on campus only before or after school hours, and will keep it “off” and stored in a locker, backpack, purse, pocket or other place where it is not visible. I will not use such devices as cameras, video players, I-Pods, MP3 or CD players, radios, or electronic games during class time or passing periods.  I understand that such items will be confiscated for improper use, and will be returned only to parents on the next school day.  I will also read, sign and abide by the LAUSD Acceptable Use Policy for District computer systems, including use of the Internet. 

THIS NEW ELECTRONICS POLICY IS POSTED IN ALL CLASSROOMS.

 
I WILL CARRY MY LACES I.D. CARD ON MY PERSON AT ALL TIMES (except during P.E. or athletics).

It will also be my responsibility to have a valid pass in my possession whenever I am out of class.  I will show my pass and I.D. to any school personnel upon request.  Failure to have a pass or I.D. on campus may result in disciplinary action.

I WILL ARRIVE ON TIME AND ATTEND ALL MY CLASSES EXCEPT WHEN EXCUSED BY A PARENT/GUARDIAN.
I will have all of my supplies/materials and textbook, and be ready to work when the tardy bells ring.  I will be aware of, and follow school procedures for leaving school early.  Students identified by at least 3 school personnel as chronically out of class without a pass/permission will be placed on the “No Walk List” for one semester, losing all out-of-class privileges. 

 
I WILL NOT POSSESS, USE, FURNISH, SELL, OR BE UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF ANY CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE, ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGE, INTOXICANT OR DRUG PARAPHERNALIAI understand that any of the above-described behaviors during school or at any school event, on or off campus, will result in suspension and a recommendation of expulsion from the LAUSD.  This also applies to any substitute substance represented as a controlled substance or intoxicant of any kind. I will also not possess, use, furnish or sell tobacco or any product containing nicotine.


I WILL ABIDE BY THE LACES ACADEMIC INTEGRITY POLICY
All student work will reflect the author’s own thoughts, ideas, and written expression.  When conducting research, students are expected to collect, analyze and synthesize information into their own words.  Plagiarism or copying another’s words or ideas without citing the original source is not allowed. Cheating on exams, class work, or homework is not allowed.  Students are responsible for being familiar with and following the entire Academic Integrity policy and violation consequences; see Info Folder.   FULL POLICY AND CONSEQUENCES ARE POSTED IN ROOMS.
